Since I plan to do these every week, ๐๐ฝ decided to make a template (so I donโt miss anything). That would be a ๐คฆโโ๏ธ moment ๐ Going to try and address all youโd like to see! What would you like to see? ๐
Iโd blurb as appropriate! I reserve the right to blurb ๐
Note May grow with more feedback! So hit me up with what you’d like to see!”
For anyone who knows me, I have a predominant happy demeaner (with periodic episodes of inappropriate humor ๐๐พ) Never mean to offend! If it happens I’m easy to talk to just tell me ๐๐พ
Mood:How I feel ๐ค
Currently Reading: Still a book blog! Love to talk, so ask me๐
Walk it out what are our plans (weather permitting)
Events Iโm excited for: I can be social. A lot of my stuff now is virtual!๐๐ฝI can go!๐
Funny story ๐:Just because I had a strokedoesn’t mean everything is so serious!
So Iโm back for another addition… All my TBRs begin with books I need to read. Since Iโve been okโd by my neurologist, books that previously werenโt available to me, are now ๐ Not sure what the experience will be like, but excited to try!
At this moment, donโt know of any bookish events… So I prioritize my book club reads. All I know of right now is
I just wanted to show insight into my planning process… I begin with books I need to read, including read by dates.
There are some exciting bookish events this month, along with a new release!
From Blood And Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
The Cross of Gilded Bone by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I, also, have my book clubs this month (4 now)! I love the planning and time management that goes into TBRs!
Between The Devil And The Duke by Kelly Bowan read by 4/12
Texas Destiny by Lorraine Heath must read by 4/8
A Hope Divided by Alyssa Cole read by 4/19
The Heirress Gets A Duke by Harper St. George read by 4/24
So I have thos books to read + my goals (letโs say 1 of each)
The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare
Then I include books I want to read. I try and alternate HR with fantasy romance like…
Texas Destiny by Lorraine Heath
Cold Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas
The Heirress Gets A Duke by Harper St. George
Falling Out Of Love With You by Lauren Rowe
The Cross If Gilded Bone by Jennifer L.
The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare
Shadow And Bone by Leigh Bardugo
I, honestly, have multiple TBRs going at a time. I find TbRs to be helpful, for copy & pasting (C&P)… Especially for past events (like the Black Author Readathon (see my Reading goal: Diversifying Authors post)! Not sure when its dropping, but its coming!
I continued reading Kingdom Of Flesh And Fire. Noticed Iโm better able to balance readathons and what I need to do in regular life! Today I went to a drive-by baby shower for a friend ๐
Sunday (Day 2)
Still reading Kingdom Of Flesh And Fire. Hopefully ๐ค๐ฝ I finish it today. Still enjoying it but noticed the plot was a little slower, but definitely getting more Cas & Poppy โค๏ธ Which Iโm loving ๐ฅฐ Love their character development but slows down the plot…
As I ate I reread Love Only Once by Johanna Lindsey that I previously read as a book club read. Recently decided to read the series, being so similar to the Bridgerton series, which I love โค๏ธ
Took a little longer to get through but I liked it! I think I might call it a night afterwards…Tomorrow Iโll tackle some HR book club reads ๐๐ฝ
Monday (Day 3)
I try not to get into a new book at night… That way I get good sleep ๐ My initial plan for today is to read a book for my book club… But I accidentally got the ebook version…๐คฆโโ๏ธ Entirely my mistake! Instead I read another book for another book club (Accidentally Engaged by Farah Heron) Traditionally, I like more historical romance (HR) than contemporary… so ๐ค๐ฝ
Increased the playback speed to 2x ๐๐ฝ Loving this book ๐๐ a little conflicted with what to do next… to read more or no?
Tuesday (Day 4)
Received Shot #1 of the Covid vaccine ๐ at 11:25! ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ Reading A Court Of Thorns And Roses kept me nice and preoccupied while in line ๐ Afterwards, we ate at Chiliโs (my first time dining in for a whole year…)
Resumed reading A Court Of Thorns And Roses
Wednesday (Day 5)
Not much to say… just read The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare
Thursday (Day 6)
Finished The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare. Started A Court Of Mist And Fury by Sarah J. Maas.
Just stayed warm in bed in my sweater blanket! ๐๐ฝ
Friday (Day 7)
Should finish A Court Of Mist And Fury today. Still only read 5 books… Noticed chunky books take me 2-3 days to get through even at 2.5 speed…
Late start… Preoccupied with birthday preparations, since itโs the month of birthdays ๐ฅณ Really didnโt feel like reading today… Started 11 pm… ๐ Couldnโt finish off A Court Of Mist And Fury… But got distracted by YT ๐
Saturday (Day 8)
Added 1 day to finish A Court Of Mist And Fury. Today feels more customary.
Went on a drive ๐ read while on it ๐ As I sit as we drive by, Iโm alarmed by the lack of masks ๐ท I see…
Feels self-important to me… ๐ but realized itโs important to talk about…like someone ๐ said: blogging is journaling.
Feel like it provides context for why I do what I do…
Wake up, put on my head/earphones, try & do bed exercises, eat brunch
When I eat, I canโt talk so itโs safer to just wear head/earphones ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ listening to a book just puts me in a new world ๐
Thereโs a baby in our home ๐คซshe lights up the house ๐ค Formerly would just park my wheelchair ๐ฆฝ and listen so I can keep an eye on her as she sleeps
A baby naturally sleeps alot. I go into my room so the floor doesnโt creek
It has been brought to my attention, not everyone reads (๐ญ) due to lack of time or interest… Hopefully ๐๐พ๐ค๐ฝ my bookish content just puts it out there! These videos are, in no way, a dictation of any sort… merely a suggestion ๐
This live in particular are with some of my YT resources into the booktube world! I owe them a lot, whether or not they know me… I find it awesome they provide this space!
This live, in particular, doesnโt talk about the book too much… you are NOT at risk for spoilers!
Actually, I watched this live while attending another zoom call too! Generally, I love their book commentary! Glad for the chance to interact with them!
Note: Trying to bundle lives with book reviews. The published summary is off Amazon, eventually Iโd like to write it!
Found this YT video yesterday! Elongates my disability-yeah mood at the moment! ๐ Always glad when I come across people with similar expectations… NOT that I want anyone to be sick…
Sick people Doโs and DONโTs:
1. Donโt stare.
2. If youโre ever unsure if you should ask… probably better to not.
3. Avoid unsolicited advice.
4. Donโt remark on appropriates.
5. Donโt say things with your eyes
6. Just listen.
7. Let them be mad ๐ก .
8. โHow can I help?โ
9. Avoid โshouldโ statements
10. Be understanding
Note: These โrules โ are my recommendations. I am not absolute.
Note: Everyone reacts differently! Just be courtious, itโs all I can suggest in GENERAL
So, in order to get to this video, watched a different video first that linked me here. BUT I FOUnD IT! ๐๐ฝ
Bit of a chunker video (about 3:38) but so grateful this was addressed! One of the main reasons I got into reading romance is that wearing my headphones ๐ง and doing something ALONE is nice and my experience with romance book commentary has been awesome!
Really enjoyed hearing similar but different diagnoses stories! Thanks for sharing! Know itโs personal but a common thread Ive seen is self-advocacy and self-education…Both are SO important
So my whole dive is partly due to
https://youtu.be/RWqX690Z09k by @peacelovebooksxo. After watching that video, I was so hyped! It also links the Bookish Sick Chicks Chat ๐๐ฝ My introduction with the romance booktube community was partly influenced by @peacelovebooksxo ๐๐ฝ
Apologies this post is a little all over the place! ๐๐พ From now on, my reaction to the chat ๐๐ฝ There were tears ๐ญ Felt like I was reliving the experience (in a cathartic way…)
A common theme I see is self-advocacy and self-education (hi google! ๐) so for providers, please recognize your unique position ๐๐พ As someone with doctor, nurse, therapy friends… Itโs no oneโs fault, itโs life! This is someoneโs life, itโs not a game!
All Iโve had until the strokes were migraines (with aura, vomiting) since 7th grade. Had my first migraine at the mall… Threw up in the food court… As I got older, I would still get migraines… When that happened, I had to shut down… I would regularly go to my best friend. To lie down, throw up, and wait for the migraine to pass… I wouldnโt drive until it was gone…
My migraines usually would resolve after throwing up. As I got older, that was no longer true… Keep in mind my memory is foggy after the summer of 2018… Remember coming home. Donโt remember walking into a wall…
Went back to Boston, going to work as a cardiac surgery RN. Donโt remember much besides going to work, being tired, and snow โ๏ธ
As I watch the video I wrote this…
Granted its hole-y, but leading up to November 27,2017, I felt unsteady. It felt like I was going to fall… Stayed in my room, called off work… The day of the stroke, remember crawling from my bathroom to my room… My friend found me… She asked me if I could walk.. She called the ambulance and I went to the hospital… I had a stroke… Did a stint in the Neuro ICU, ran A LOT of tests because we still didnโt know why I had a stroke… Come to find out, Iโm hyper-colagable. That means I form blood clots easily.
A stroke is the disruption of blood flow to the brain. People usually have 1) a blood clot or 2) a brain bleed.
With illness, thereโs still some humor… ๐ The chat did have LOL moments. I, personally, like to joke (especially on myself) I think it just depends on the time, place, audience. For me, I try to remember people arenโt ๐ค๐ฝ malicious…
I had my stroke November 27. 2017. That day is pretty foggy ๐ซ canโt imagine what it was like for my friends and family… Im sorry for the position i put everyone in! ๐๐พ
Something I really wondered about was maintaining my privacy yet being transparent…
Social anxiety is real…Get anious when eating in front of anyone… I hate chocking! Dread coughing even…
Being sick, gratefulness is KEY ๐ Just recognizes the privalege to be alive, thankful to everyone who loves you, being to do whatever you can… it helps tons because dark days are gonna come… the anger is real… my old therapist told me โItโs okay to be madโ โค๏ธ soo true…
Audiobooks are a godsend! Really enables me to read (more like listen ๐ง) Something I heard really resonated with me… โshut your ablist mouth!โ ๐
The genetic component of my hyper-colagibilty was my #1 concern… Wouldnโt want this to happen to anyone… Iโm prone to miscarrages… If I wver were to become pregnant, it would be high risk… Fortunately, Iโve accepted that…
